BIO

John started his career at MBNA in their Management Development Program and went on to spend several years in the credit card business at JPMorgan Chase, MBNA, and Bank of America where he held positions leading strategy, marketing, pricing and credit. After playing a leadership role during the integration of MBNA with Bank of America, John transitioned into Retail Banking and eventually served as Head of the Small Business Banking segment. There he led the development of overall business strategy, established corporate-wide performance objectives and determined the strategic investments required to profitably grow a portfolio of 4.5 million small business customers.

 

After Bank of America, John served as Executive Director of Commercial Banking & Lending Product for Morgan Stanley Private Bank, where he was responsible for the commercial banking and lending solutions for High Net Worth clients of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.

 

John joined Capital One Bank in May 2011 to lead the Small Business Banking segment. After two years in that role, John led the Product & Marketing team for Capital One’s Retail Bank, where he was responsible for the bank’s product portfolio, digital experiences, marketing and fraud prevention. He currently serves as Executive Vice President for Retail and Direct Banking.

 

John holds an Executive M.B.A. from the Duke University, Fuqua School of Business and a B.B.A. from Stetson University in DeLand, Florida. He lives in McLean, VA with his wife Shannon and their three sons.
