CBA Elects Michael Rhodes of TD Bank to Board of Directors

Washington, D.C. (June 23, 2016) – Today, the Consumer Bankers Association’s Board of Directors elected TD Bank’s Michael Rhodes to join its 25-member Board. CBA's Board of senior retail banking executives guides the organization in its support of and advocacy for the retail banking industry, which provides banking services to America’s consumers and small businesses.

Michael Rhodes, Head of Consumer Bank – TD Bank
Michael Rhodes is the Head of Consumer Bank for TD Bank. In this role, he leads product innovation and delivery through retail channels, including direct channels and online & mobile banking. He has U.S. accountability for Retail Distribution, Retail Sales & Service Strategy, Retail Product Strategy and Development, omni-channel strategy, Payments, and Marketing.

Michael joined TD in 2011 to lead the North American Credit Card and Merchant Services business, where he was responsible for the overall strategic direction of the North American Credit Cards and Merchant Services business. Under his leadership, the business has grown to be a significant contributor to TD's overall success and the number one credit card issuer in Canada and number five in North America by purchasing volume. He was instrumental in the successful acquisition of the Aeroplan and Target U.S. Credit Cards businesses, as well as the integration of MBNA Canada.

Prior to joining TD, Michael held a variety of roles within the payments and banking sector, including CEO of a portfolio company backed by a top-tier private equity fund and CEO of MBNA Europe Bank Limited, where he expanded the business into the largest card issuer in Europe, and doubled profits.

His experience in the financial services industry spans more than 20 years and includes senior leadership roles at Bank of America and MBNA America Bank. He has worked in the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, Ireland and Canada.

Michael earned his Master of Business Administration from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania. He also holds an engineering degree from Duke University. He resides in Wilmington, Delaware.
