CBA Executive Banking School Announces 2020 Graduating Class

Five Honors Grads Named; Julie Carey with M&T Bank Honored with Tem Wooldridge Award for Outstanding Academic Performance, Integrity and Leadership

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Consumer Bankers Association (CBA) today graduated 59 bankers from its Executive Banking School and recognized Julie Carey from M&T Bank with the school’s top honor, the Tem Wooldridge Award. The class of 2020 brings total EBS graduates to more than 4,500 bank leaders.

CBA Executive Banking School, now marking its 69th session and first-ever virtual session, provides a one-of-a-kind education for top bank officers by immersing them in real world scenarios experienced daily at banks. Tailored and taught by leading industry practitioners, the program challenges students to run the entire consumer arm of a bank and manage from the top down by analyzing data to influence decisions and impact a bank’s future performance. Graduates are anchored on a path to leadership and gain a deep understanding and appreciation of how various segments of banking are interrelated.

“Congratulations to the CBA Executive Banking School Class of 2020, honors graduates and Tem Wooldridge Award recipient Julie Carey with M&T Bank,” said CBA President and CEO Richard Hunt. “Today’s graduates have completed our rigorous three-year program, preparing them to implement key lessons in their bank as future leaders.

“The CBA Executive Banking School believes in the value of an integrated curriculum with a holistic perspective of retail banking required to successfully lead with industry shifts. As the only program nationally providing the comprehensive view of retail banking and tools for sound decision-making, I am confident today’s graduates are prepared to effectively lead in our ever-evolving industry and propel into more complex opportunities.”

Julie Carey was selected by the CBA Executive Banking School faculty, with input from senior class peers, to receive the Tem Wooldridge Award. This prestigious honor recognizes the top student who demonstrates outstanding academic performance, high integrity and a strong work ethic. In addition to academic merit, Tem Wooldridge Award winners possess the necessary character and leadership skills to bring out the best in their teammates. Presented annually, the award was established to honor a now-retired faculty member.
