July 16, 2015

Washington, D.C. (July 16, 2015) – Richard Hunt, President and CEO of the Consumer Bankers Association (CBA), issued the following statement in response to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s (CFPB) announcement of Deputy Director Steven Antonakes’ decision to return to Massachusetts:

“Steven Antonakes’ insight as a career examiner brought valued credibility to two important roles at the Bureau:  Deputy Director and Associate Director for Supervision, Enforcement and Fair Lending.  He struck the right balance between the safety and soundness of a bank and consumer protection.  We wish him all the very best as he returns home to his family in Massachusetts and the New England Patriots,” said CBA’s President and CEO Richard Hunt.
