New CBA Video & Op-Ed Highlight 2022 Executive Banking School

August 12, 2022

In a new video and in an op-ed appearing in South Carolina Business Magazine, the Consumer Bankers Association (CBA) celebrated its renowned Executive Banking School (EBS) which concluded last week on the campus of Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. The program was held in-person this year for the first time since 2019 and featured more than 300 students from 39 banks.

The video features remarks from CBA President & CEO Lindsey Johnson, who said during a special ceremony held on-campus last week for graduates:

“I have seen, firsthand, just how special this program is and fully appreciate the commitment necessary to succeed here as a student. […] CBA is grateful for the commitment shown by our members to further bolster a robust talent pipeline and prepare the next generation of diverse bankers.”

Commenting on the impact EBS has had in her career, PNC’s Kaley Keeley – who was recognized as the top student for the class of 2022 – goes on to say in the video:

“EBS has meant everything to me. […] The people I’ve met along the way, my professors, my community groups, the classes in general have been simply fantastic. I certainly plan to walk away from this [experience] and take all the wealth of information, knowledge, and relationships to advance my career. […] It’s been a fantastic journey and I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to do this with.”

In an op-ed appearing in South Carolina Business Magazine, CBA’s SVP, Director of Executive Education, Tom Dent, reflected on some of the key takeaways from this year’s Executive Banking School, including:

On The Industry’s Commitment To Build A Robust & Diverse Talent Pipeline

“Through their participation in the program, banks are demonstrating a tangible commitment to building a diverse and robust talent pipeline while also signaling to rising stars within the bank that their employer is invested in their future success.”

On Why In-Person Programs Remain Important For Complex Learning & Networking

“Our objective is to move students as far to the right on the learning curve as possible, from wherever they start, and that effort is maximized when we can look each other in the eye. […] Students were especially eager to be in-person this year and develop lasting relationships with fellow students from different backgrounds and regions of the country.”

On The Important Role EBS Plays Across The Industry

“The conversations, lessons, and classes held in South Carolina annually each summer help to ensure banks remain well-positioned to deliver on their mission of financing the American Dream across every community they serve for decades to come.”
