Letters to Cordray: Student Lending Compliance and Non-QM

CBA sent a letter yesterday afternoon to CFPB Director Cordray regarding non-QM loans and the industry’s concerns. Based on our meetings with the Bureau, it is very clear we need to address our differing views on the viability of non-QM lending post January 10, 2014... Our joint letter regarding student loans to Director Cordray on Monday requested a 30-day compliance grace period to assist lenders with TILA compliance challenges. The CFPB is working with us on this issue but more progress is needed... See our GR update below for details on both letters.

Small Biz Lending Reaches 6-Year High

Great news in American Banker this week: "Large banks approved more small-business loans in July than they have in any month since before the recession."
Retail Banking in "100 to Watch"

CBA's collective efforts were recognized this week by The Hill, a Capitol Hill publication, in their "100 People to Watch This Fall" ranking and one of 18 in the financial arena. As The Hill put it, these are the 100 you can’t ignore this fall if you’re wondering how events in Congress and the White House will play out.  Our association has benefited tremendously from the involvement of all our members and each of our achievements is truly a team effort. Thanks to all who contribute to making CBA the voice of the industry, "where banks and consumers interact."
Planning for CBA LIVE 2014

CBA's event team and I had a great visit to the Gaylord National Resort this week, future site of CBA LIVE 2014, March 31 - April 2. Be sure to mark your calendars and check out our call for presentations...

Associate Advisory Committee

Also at the Gaylord National Resort this week, CBA’s top sponsors and associate members met to share their feedback and ideas about CBA LIVE, sponsor benefits and year-round partnership opportunities. The visit also provided an exclusive sneak peak at our 2014 industry event venue. Thanks to Bob Kottler, CBA Board Chair (IBERIABANK) and Mark Pregmon, Co-Chair of CBA’s Associate Membership Council (PNC Bank) for their participation, as well as Accurate Group, ARGO, Equifax, Fiserv, Hudson Cook, Lender Processing Services, Novantas and VantageScore Solutions.
