Fed Holds TBTF Forum

The Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, on Monday, April 4, 2016, hosted an “Ending Too Big to Fail” symposium. The forum was the next step in the Minneapolis Fed’s #EndingTBTF initiative, which aims to have an “actionable plan to end TBTF” by the end of the year. The event featured remarks from Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis President Neel Kashkari, a keynote lunch, and two panel sessions of former regulators and academics.

Topics of discussion included:

  • Substantially increasing capital requirements;
  • The need for cost-benefit analysis in bank regulation and in addressing sources of financial fragility; and
  • Altering the organizational structure of financial institutions.

The event was the first in a series of forums to be hosted by the Minneapolis Fed on this subject.  The second symposium is set for May 16, 2016.
