Pierre P. Habis is Managing Director and Head of Consumer Banking for Union Bank®. With more than 25 years of banking experience, Habis manages all aspects of Consumer Banking which includes Branch and Private Banking; Products and Portfolio Management; Small Business and Residential Lending; Direct Banking and Marketing for the U.S. He is also the founding President of PurePoint® Financial, the newest division of MUFG Union Bank.


In 2017, Habis led the successful launch of PurePoint Financial, a national hybrid-digital bank aimed at committed savers. In addition to offering convenience and higher rates typically associated with online banking, PurePoint is focused on delivering exceptional client service online, via phone and at Financial Centers throughout Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Miami, New York and Tampa.


Habis is widely recognized as an inspirational leader and passionate advocate for driving innovation to meet the evolving needs and preferences of today’s modern consumers. He is also dedicated to advancing financial literacy education among both children and adults. In 2011, he spearheaded the opening of Union Bank’s first student-run bank branch on the campus of McLane High School in Fresno, California. The Bank now operates four high school branches throughout its network including Crenshaw and Lincoln High Schools in Los Angeles, Loara High School in Anaheim, CA and Mountain View High School in El Monte. The branches provide students, who primarily live in low- to moderate-income communities, with real-world financial education and experience.


Prior to joining Union Bank in 2008, Habisheld leadership positions in retail and consumer banking at other financial institutions including Bank of America, First Federal and Countrywide. He began his banking career as a teller and later a branch manager at Wells Fargo Bank before advancing into executive roles there.


Habis currently serves as Chairman of the Board for the American Heart Association’s Western States Affiliates. He also actively serves on the Board of Directors of the Consumer Bankers Association; the Board of Councilors for the University of Southern California’s Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences; the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association; the Advisory Committee for Telus International; and the Editorial Advisory Board for Retail Banker International magazine.


Habis earned a B.A. in economics from the University of Southern California and an MBA in finance from Chapman University.
